Why did you decide to come to the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory (GSL)?
I decided to come to the lab to get out of Iowa and learn more about ranch life and the research being done here at GSL.
What is your favorite thing about GSL?
I love getting hands-on experience working with the cattle and the peaceful open country!
What is your focus of work here at the ranch?
At the ranch, I am able to help out in a variety of areas such as collecting samples, moving cattle, or fixing windmills and fence lines.
What has been your favorite experience you have had with your work or research?
My favorite experience that I have had at the ranch would be learning different handling techniques with the calves to treat them or the branding process.
How does the community at the ranch support your work and goals?
The community at the ranch supports my work and goals by teaching me procedures I will use later in my career, such as bleeding tails to collect samples.
What are your future plans?
My future plans are to attend Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine to become a veterinarian.
What is life like outside of GSL?
In my free time, I love to travel, hike, fish, read books, play pickleball and golf.
