University honors Nollette's contributions to research, teaching, extension

John Nollette, lead ranch technician at the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory, received a Kudos Award from the University of Nebraska Board of Regents on June 18, recognizing his contributions to research, teaching and Extension. 

On the ranch, Nollette is known for his work to ensure the success of research, Extension and teaching programs that benefit students, producers and communities across the state.

Carpenter selected for Young Cattlemen's Connections Class of 2026

The Nebraska Cattlemen selected Roger Carpenter, ranch technician at the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory, for the Young Cattlemen’s Connections Class of 2026. 

The program helps participants build industry knowledge and leadership skills to support the future of Nebraska’s beef industry.

2026 GSL Summer Intern, Kevin Zamudio-Arambula

Kevin Zamudio-Arambula is from northwest Iowa and has a background in swine production, including work in nursery and finishing operations. He also has experience working at a beef feedlot and assisting with the production and harvest of corn and soybeans. Zamudio-Arambula is a junior at Iowa State University majoring in animal science on the pre-veterinary track. He plans to apply to the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine this semester.

2026 GSL Summer Intern, Madison Woehrle

Madison Woehrle, of Eustis, Nebraska, is a junior at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln majoring in agricultural education with minors in animal science and meat science. A member of the 2025 UNL Meats Judging Team and Block and Bridle, Woehrle gained experience in a cow-calf operation at GSL while furthering her education. She also enjoyed learning about the lab's research projects and appreciated the team members who shared their knowledge throughout the summer.
